Matthew Williamson for H&M

I decided not to go to neither part of the Mathew Williamson opening collection for H&M. After what happened with the Roberto Cavalli opening where the clothes lasted less than one minute on the rack and girls were acting like wild animals protecting their prey I decided that I will not participate this time.

To my luck , last Thursday as I was buying a gift for a friend at H&M, I saw that some parts of the collection were still there. Mostly the summery exotic stuff which I think did not do very well in Vancouver because of the colourful wild prints and the exotism of it. obviously these looks do not go well with the whole nature in the woods that Vancouverites love to wear. I was talking with a fellow Vancouverite fashion blogger about the fact that here if u dress too colorful people will take u as an alien from another planet. Although girls are fashionable in Vancouver, dark neutrals definitely dominate their closets. I guess its the same anywhere. If u have a colder climate people will go for the darker and neutrals. When u live in a hot climate, colours, prints and white dominate your wardrobe. It's common fashion sense so in a way it should come as no surprise that those pieces did not do so well.

Anyways here are the 2 pieces I bought. U will never see me in the swimsuit( i would never post a swimsuit pic unless I drop 5 pounds and grow 10 cm). it looks better on Daria's body anyways.

As to the tunic cover-up, I love it. I think this is a piece that will never go out of style. I can see myself wearing it when I'm 40 and 50 over a swimsuit and still look chic in it.

i bought the tunic as well, and it's really cool 'coz you can wear it not only on top of a swimming suite. It's just the right piece to create with!

I wish I had a H&M near me! Apparently they always have the best jackets.

I live in a really warm area, I think I probably dress the most "far out" compared to people around me. So many tourists are here :P

I love the bright colors though! They remind me of the Gucci ads. I think they are really gorgeous. I need more color in my closet.

Yup, here at H&M were also some expensive items from Matthew left. Like the sequined dress & flowy dress....and lot of belts.. I guess it's still expensive. The dresses were € 100,00 ? Too expensive for me.

I've found too that you can often find H&M's designer pieces in stock after the initial opening day frenzy. I just wish the quality was a little better. ( But then am picky editor type!) LLGxx

A little secret, I've never been to H&M. The closest one to me is a long drive away so I've never been :( My city doesn't have many fashionable stores. I can't wait to move!
