Companionship Day

 Coat: Corina Vladescu
Skirt: H&M
Tights: Calvin Klein
Shoes: Kate Preston
Sunglasses: Ray-Ban

Last night as I was having dinner at Cardero, a woman dining alone caught my attention. It was obvious she wasn't waiting for someone, or that someone stood her up.  Rather she had decided to brave society's misconceptions about dining alone and went out to enjoy a lovely meal out even if she actually didn't have anybody to share it with.
Although I strongly appreciate her courage ( knowingly very well that if I would be in that position I could never do it), I started to think about how lucky some us are to actually have someone in our lives to share all these little things. It makes you realize how we take some things for granted and we don't truly value them.
So lets make today January 31st, Companionship Day and thank someone very near to us for just actually being there.

Prepping for Girs Night OUT

The postman has arrived just in time for our yearly Girls Night Out during DINE OUT Vancouver.

He brought me a new dress from Helmut Lang which will work perfectly for dinner at Diva at the Met tomorrow evening.

I am planning on pairing with a new Kelly look-alike in yummy brick red....

and my trusty old Balenciaga's with their amazing talon heel.

Till later,
Goodnight!

H&M you stole my heart this spring

"Dear H&M,

You know me sooooooo well!

Every season you amaze me with new pieces that I will roll on the ground and throw a huge tantrum if I do not posses. I can shamelessly attest to being your addict.
You have me in chains, forever enslaved to your amazing fast fashions at super WOW prices.

I sat down last year and calculated the amount of money I throw dearly at your cashiers and wow did the numbers shock me.  For being one that always complains that I can not afford on my student budget designer shoes every month, well let me tell you that I can sure spend the equivalent YES each month in your store.
I have never once entered it without purchasing something except one time when I headed for the cashier with an arm full of goodies and realized that I forgot my cards at home.  I came back  the next day and they were gone SOB!!!!!
Shame Shame Shame ON ME of course!

Well H&M you've done it again this season!
I crave your new collection so badly to the point that I feel I will have to be put into a straight jacket as to not go crazy. I have gotten to the point where I need rehab. Do you have an H&M rehab by the way for fanatics like me?

All I really want to say is that I LOVE YOU H&M and I will shop you like there is no tomorrow.

With lots of love and crazy eyes,
yours truly
Faboulista! "

P.S. For those of you that care, the above items will be making their way into my wardrobe so unless you wanna be my clone( if you do well that's terribly freakish) DON'T BUY THEM

Back to my roots

Vest: Fe(male)
Top: Vintage Romanian peasant top
Skirt: Vintage
Tight: Calvin Klein
Boots: Jeffrey Campbell

Throughout the past year I have received emails asking me about my actual ethnicity.  People seem curious as to why I blog so much about Romanian designers despite having a middle eastern name while living in Canada.

I have never revealed my true origins on this blog but since so many of you have an interest in my roots, well it's time I give you a bit of background about myself.

I was born in Romania 24 years ago to a Romanian mother and an Iranian father. My father was an international student studying engineering in Romania and met my mother in university. After graduation, he decided to settle in Romania and start a family there. At the age of 12, my family decided to immigrate to Canada in search for a better and safer life away from the dangers of post-communist Romania.

I speak fluent Romanian although my writing is terrible yet only mildly understand Farsi without being able to communicate more than 10 words.
So now you have a bit of background as to who I am!

Treasures and Curiosities

Dress: Target
Jacket: Forever 21
Gloves: Target
Bag: Vintage
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell's Litas

Guess who I ran into while strolling around Yaletown last Friday? no one other then the fabulous
We both recognized each other yet were afraid to say something till we both got really close to make sure we weren't making a mistake.
It's quite hard to make a mistake though when you are posing on the sidewalk and a man nearby is holding a camera with a 9 inch lens.
So now that the two of us have actually met, I think it might be time that Miss Melissa makes an actual appearance on Faboulista.

Jet-Set Safari

 Coat: H&M
Tights: H&M
Bag: Vintage
Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell's Litas
Hat& Rings: Borrowed

Last Monday, as I got ready to go over to my friend's house, subconsciously inspired by this amazing outfit worn by Ioana, I grabbed my leopard coat and dashed for the train. The sub zero weather of last week called for a very warm coat and this H&M coat is exactly that.

My friend Roshanak is one of the best hostess ever. On top of always making me lunches and letting me play in her closet full of treasures gathered from around the globe, she offered to take some outfit photos of myself that day. No fancy camera, no special lenses, with just a plain old point and shoot , she was able to capture me like nobody has ever done with a no-frills camera. She let me borrow all of the amazing accessories you see such as the hat and the rings ... speaking of rings I have to do something about the fact that I do not own any obnoxious statement pieces.
(My new amazing photographer Roshanak wearing one of her beautiful Persian coats)

Roshanak will now become a part-time photographer for Faboulista filling in for George from time to time. With her knack for ethnic inspired outfits and creative ways of using space, she will bring a fresh perspective to the blog.

Le Lapin Baroque

Shoes: Balenciaga
Tights: American Apparel
Gloves: Dressew
Lace Ears: Alice&Sara

Remember how back in February of last year I got the Roisin dress in the blue version, custom made for a special occasion this June? Well I finally ran out of patience till the event and decided to just put it on and shoot this little outfit. The bunny years  from Alice & Sara are one of my most treasured accessory possessions.  I'm racking up quite a collection of accessories from them but by far their signature items are the headbands
which they masterfully create. I can not wait to see what other new ideas they come up with this season.
