Kitty Candyland

Last night I had the pleasure of attending Kitty Candyland, the official launch of the Kitty Card. For those of you not aware, the Kitty Card is a must-have ladies-only membership to the good life in Vancouver with fabulous deals on beauty, fashion and fun for girls. Kitty Candyland had a carnival-style theme with pink and black candy, delicious hand-wrapped chocolates, cute cupcakes and pink cotton candy. We were also spoiled with a wrapped pink gift filled with beauty samples, gift certificates and candylicious surprises!

With the lovely Lexie Lamour

My fashionable sidekick Jessi. I always travel in a posse. Not included in the photos is my photographer who follows me everywhere.

I wore: F21 band jacket, Patricia Fieldwalker silk chiffon tunic, Aldo leggings and shoes.

Look who I ran into!!!!!!!! The amazing Nicole from Le Mode du Jour.

Decor Renovations

This post has nothing to do with FASHION! My mind lately has been on redecorating my home! I've moved in my new house exactly 3 years ago. I started off with the basic living essentials and slowly I have added bits and pieces I liked and changed a couple of major things like my couch into a sectional. But now I think its time for a lift. I need to give it more personality. Anybody who has been to my house will tell you that it's basically black and white. Although I'm planning on keeping this as my main colour scheme I need it done in a more elegant way. Looking through different images on the web I think I would classify my home decor style as modern eclectic.

I come across Christina Murphy's designs through the home decor blog VARNISH and I must say I loved her work. Its basically exactly what I am looking for.

Love the idea of painting the rims of the glass doors black to break up the whiteness. I will definitely do this to the door separating my den from my living room!

I love this wallpaper but not the table! Too small for me! I love to entertain lots people and round tables are just too small for that!

Love this foyer!!!

Sequined at Library Square

Wearing: Forever 21 cardigan, H&M sequined skirt, American Apparel heart print tights, Mulberry Bayswater Bag, Betsey Johnson rose earrings,Honey Room sunglasses, Target pumps.

I went looking for Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia yesterday... no luck but found a store near Library Square that carries Vogue Paris usually ( unfortunately they sell out in the first couple of days). The owner promised he will look into supplying Vogue Italia as well. Maybe I have found my source for these magazines. If any of you Vancouverites know any other stores where I can get them, your help would be tremendously appreciated.

On another note, the damn rain wont stop. It's ruining my long weekend plans. I hope it will stop by tomorrow. I was looking forward to a trip to Whistler.

After the rain is gone

Wearing: No name trench coat, scarf & umbrella, Hue tights, Target pumps, vintage beret, H&M belt

After so many sunny days it finally rained yesterday! It poured till about late afternoon and then BAM! the sun came out and I was stuck in a rainy outfit. You can see the sun raising up behind me. I must have looked like such a fool by then with this ensemble. That's Vancouver weather for you. You're always in for the unexpected.

I heart star prints!

Wearing: BCBG Max Azria blazer, skirt from Tokyo,Japan,Mulberry Bayswater Bag,Vintage hat,Ray-Ban sunglasses, Target scarf and pumps, Hue tights

Since I opened the comment debate I went back and forth whether I should close the section or not. In the end I decided to leave them on... the reason for that is because of a couple of you out there that really do give me insightful feedback and I truly value your opinion.
You guys are the reason why I brought back the comments a few months ago. I really wanted to give you an easier access to getting in touch with me when you wanted to tell me something.

I just don't agree with the whole returning comments game. You shouldn't feel obligated to say something to someone if you have nothing to say.
Some of you think that there is nothing fake with one liners but I think that if you really want to proclaim your love for an outfit, you will put a lot more effort in than just 2-3 words. If that's all you have time for then don't worry about it. I don't get upset that you didn't have time to tell me anything.

Anyways the idea is this: You can all write whatever you want in the comment section but at the end of the day if the only reason you commented was for self-promotion,you wont get a visit from me. Also don't get discouraged if I don't comment to each and every post. If I follow your blog, it means I like it and I read it. I just have nothing to tell you. It's the nature of the content of style blogs itself that just don't always allow one to form an opinion.

My latest favorite things

I'm in love with my new Mulberry bag. No job to carry it to but plenty of chic downtown streets.

I also love the idea of small straw hats for summer. Not the big floppy ones but a little one.

Oh and look what I found on my last thrifting spree? Oscar de la Renta silk scarf. From the care tag on it I would say it dates back to the 70's.

And lastly a chiffon vintage blouse with lots and lots of ruffles.

P.S. I'm starting to doubt if it was a good idea to bring back the comments section. By now you have probably realized how much I detest comments on style blogs. Why do you need so many people telling you the same thing? For validation purposes? I really don't think there is much feedback to be given on a style blog except for the usual fake " cool hat! love the bag! Amazing!" Spare me please! I mean really on a style blog your content should remain the same whether people like it or not.So I wanna open this post to a little debate on why you think comments are good or NOT on style blogs. What's their purpose? How do they help the blogger in future posts? Do we really need so many people telling us the exact same thing( 90% of comments on blogs are a variation of the same bullshit everybody feeds you.)

Big Love

Wearing:Vintage blouse, vintage skirt bought at an NYC flea market 5 years ago, Aldo shoes, DIY headband made of vintage scarves inspired by the lovely Ioana

This post is inspired by the wonderful hit HBO series BIG LOVE starring Chloe Sevigny and Bill Paxton. An amazingly well written drama about 21st century polygamists living in Utah. I first got hooked on it on my plane ride back from Romania. It was probably the only enjoyable thing from that trip. Once I got home I downloaded all four seasons and went through them like a maniac. They are extremely addictive making you crave more and more till you literally forget you have a life outside of the show. It's probably due to the amazing writers who make the show so captivating from the very beginning. If you haven't seen it or haven't heard of it I strongly recommend you look into it. You wont regret it!It's on the top list of my favorite shows. Now if I can get some patience till the fifth season!

P.S. For the hair style I was inspired by the DIY post on Fashezine that the lovely Ioana posted. I loved her look and asked her for a special post explaining how to do this hairstyle step by step.

Heart Print Tights

Wearing: Corina Vladescu skirt, H&M blazer, American Apparel tights, Target pumps and tank, Forever 21 bib necklace.

I first got the American Apparel heart print tights in white with pink for the Alice shoots. But then I realized how hard it is to match them with other outfits. Not to mention I look like a "little girl". I loved the print so I went back and got them in that "oh so easy" to wear colour BLACK!

P.S. I'm done with the Toycamera Analog for Now!
