Back to my roots

Vest: Fe(male)
Top: Vintage Romanian peasant top
Skirt: Vintage
Tight: Calvin Klein
Boots: Jeffrey Campbell

Throughout the past year I have received emails asking me about my actual ethnicity.  People seem curious as to why I blog so much about Romanian designers despite having a middle eastern name while living in Canada.

I have never revealed my true origins on this blog but since so many of you have an interest in my roots, well it's time I give you a bit of background about myself.

I was born in Romania 24 years ago to a Romanian mother and an Iranian father. My father was an international student studying engineering in Romania and met my mother in university. After graduation, he decided to settle in Romania and start a family there. At the age of 12, my family decided to immigrate to Canada in search for a better and safer life away from the dangers of post-communist Romania.

I speak fluent Romanian although my writing is terrible yet only mildly understand Farsi without being able to communicate more than 10 words.
So now you have a bit of background as to who I am!

Mina, you look so gorgeous! And you are seriously the only one I know who has enough confidence and flair to wear 3 statement pieces of clothing, and not only avoid looking like a fashion disaster but actually look good! That vest is so beautiful... great to see it styled!

I loved this post and getting to know you a little better. I find that a fascinating blog makes you want to learn about its creator and the more I learn about you the more I seem to like you and your blog :). I love the peasant top as well, I have been looking to buy one myself.

hey mina!!! superb outfitul :D
hugs, darling >:D<

Mina, gorgeous pictures of you. I am in love with the print and colors of your skirt.
About the roots, I forgot to say and congratulate you for your feature in Absolutely Fabulous Magazine from a couple of weeks ago. That's where I first read about your roots, I was surprised to see you are half Iranian because to me you look very Romanian.
I think that moving to Canada was a great idea, the opportunities over there are endless, unlike here...

Thanks for sharing this bit about you! I know it can be strange/weird sometimes to talk about your personal life on your blog. It's always cool though to learn more about the writer and you have such interesting roots! Hey, like me... I was, also, born in Bucharest, my father is syrian, he was a medical student. We are a lot of "multi-cultural" romanian young peoples. I left Romania in 1993 and I lived in Israel. Now, since 1996, I live in Paris.
I like your blog, so good luck for your business.
