The Golden Maharani

Saturday.
I wait and wait and wait.
I hope and hope and hope that maybe for just a minute the rain will stop.
No such thing.
What's there to do?
Nothing except shoot an outfit inside.
Inside??????????
Yeah!

Up to a month ago, I would have cringed at the idea of shooting an outfit against a white wall.
How boring one would have thought!
No no, Its all in the method you do it.
And so I learned or I think I did from the master herself, Iulia from Dream Size Zero. Not only are her poses naturally wicked but she is probably the coolest person I have met( well we don't know each other personally yet) but just take a look and you will see for yourself. Although I do not embody her carefree naturalness ( I'm uptight by nature), I tried to embody a certain Iulia spirit in these photos. It sure made shooting these photos a lot easier having Iulia as my inspiration.

Not only that but she has also become my shoe consultant. Together we have pledged to one another never again to let ourselves buy uncomfortable shoes. So we have found ourselves on a journey towards finding dreamy shoes one can seriously walk in!

So a lot of vintage and just a bit of attitude made this look happen!

P.S.  A friend has just translated for me the meaning of this post's title!
Maha - Supreme
Raja = King
Rani = Queen

love the blog title!

Well you certainly do look rather maha and very much a modern day rani.

...and being an old fuddy-duddy (even using that tems outs me as one!)... I have to confess that the cited blog is not really for me but that's okay... each to their own...

I like edgy mixed with individuality and elegance. I appreciate many types of styles, not just those that are similar styles to mine... I like fearlessness and strength be the look 'Amazon' or 'Girlie'. A fierceness born from true individuality.

I am SO tired and bored of the same ol' same ol'... the same looks, the same labels, the same dirty slouch and blase attitude, the same Kate Moss clones... that's why I am a fan of your blog, of you. You are an individual. You are timeless, life is art and you are cool. You make me look twice. And keep looking. You stand out for all the right reasons.

I LOVE this photoshoot! You have done the White Wall proud. I too employ a white wall when I have no time nor wish to shoot 'on location'. You are gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

Absolutely beautiful. Very 20's Hollywood Screen Siren! I think that the white wall is a great contrast against the outfit.

The lighting makes me think of a movie from the 50's, you look mysterious (I think a martini would have been a great prop too :-))! The cape is fun over all black and wearable. I especially love the pop of color on your nails, it ads a touch of oomph that pulls the whole look together.

This is amazing. White walls are not boring. It is all in how you utilize them. They have the power to make someone blend into the wall or to make an outfit pop, and this wall definitely made your outfit pop. You look great!! I am so in love with your nail polish, by the way.

p.s. I could imagine you in a french themed outfit, or at least I'd love to see it!
What made me think of that was that on my blogger RSS feed I though you were wearing a beret as it was a small thumbnail piccy :)

GORGEOUS look! You look like you had a really good time shooting it too! Those nails are my favorite part (well and the turban too... and the sequins... well, okay EVERYTHING).

The rain forced you to be creative, and boy did it pay off, great shoot, and lovely top.

Pictures against white background aren't boring, but just different and give a different energy.
This turban was made for u to wear!

Kenza said...

love the hat!! you've go so much style!

MizzJ said...

People underestimate the white wall. I think if someone can look good against a plain wall without using the crutch of a killer background, then they must look really good! Also, it's just more practical with our rainy Vancity weather!

At the time of writing this article I just found The accounts of the Federal Reserve System have never been audited. Periodically when the discussion would get out of hand, you would hear the slap of that stick as Michael made heroic attempts to keep order. They honked their horns, urging him to get out of their way. Therefore, they can be tough to manage, and though extremely smart, can often get marginalized as "naysayers".
