We can't all be model skinny

With  sad regret, I must announce that these shorts have since Monday parted ways with my wardrobe. Not for any other reason except they do not fit me anymore and I finally realized the day I took these photos that even a scoop of ice cream would keep me from breathing properly.
Not too mention they already make my very generous hips look hmm a lot more generous.

Now they have a new owner, one with a model skinny body that made them look so chic that I almost wanted to rip them off her and take them back!
But I knew that on me, they would never look this way!

Which got me thinking about trends and clothes and body types.
One of my biggest problems has always been that I sometimes get caught up in some trend that doesn't suit my body but buy the items anyways only to realize later how ill fitting they are on me.
Or I try to fit into a size much smaller than what I should wear only because the bigger size doesn't look as good.
Wouldn't it be nice if fashion companies would actually take our different body types in consideration when they make clothes? So in my search, I found Kandco which actually has the same range for plus sized clothing as for their regular clothing. Now, I know I'm not actually plus size but to me that is a treat to see that there are fashion brands out there that celebrate our curves!

The shorts are really cute! At least you got some good outfit photos before you had to part ways.

It's always a sad thing to, ahem, outgrow clothes you love. I had to part ways with some dresses that just didn't fit anymore.

Omg! I love the bag! It's gorgeous! And the pants also! You're so cute!

We can't be and we shouldn't! Now I'm not sure, but not everybody can afford it. Thinking all the time you must be skinny,or slim,or tall? There are many tipes of women in the world, with different jobs, with kids, with a home they must cary on.I don't care if a singer is fat or slim,as long as she's singing well and her song warms my heart and gives me a good mood and so on. This world can not be full of models,of skinny models, cause many of them are giving up important things for their jobs. Even their lives. It is not worthy.Anyway, you do look beautiful,Mina. Sper ca esti bine! :)

omg but you look amazing! it's certainly one of my favorite outfits... but I certainly get you on this one.
I'm not plus sized either, nor overweight but I'm also not stick thin, and no matter what I do I never will... so yes in fashion the staples start from thin and the rest derives from it... so it will always fit thiner best... so I have to pass on some fashions that I would love to be able to pull off.
Sometimes I feel that the same piece of cloth looks more high fashion on a thinner body than mine... it's like it doesn't have the same effect on me...

But then, well I try not to let it get to me... there are some things that I certainly like how they look on me better than on other types of bodies.

So the best is to get to know your body and make the best out of your virtues :)

Again, you look gorgeous really :)

Applause!!! That was a beautiful post. You have to wear what works for you, no matter what size you are. I've seen stick thin girls that don't look good in their clothes and fat ones that don't look good in theirs. I'm plus-sized (1x) and I'm always looking out for fashionable clothes. I sometimes wonder what designers are thinking, when they make some of the "stuff" that is out there for us. Thanks for attaching that wonderful site which encompasses something for all. Always remember to be beautiful both inside and out no matter what size you are. Again, beautiful post.

oh I so love those pastel colors! and I so agree with you about the size and not wearing something that doesn`t suit me olny because is trendy. for example all my jeans fit perfectly on my legs but on my waist they are like a size bigger, because my hips aren`t large enough to fit into those jeans, and I always have to modify them. So it would be nice to find a perfect fitting jeans.

We can't all be model skinny, it's true, but you are awfully close! Still, I understand exactly what you mean in this post, it's so much better to wear clothes that make you feel comfortable and suit your shape, no matter what size they are... But sometimes it's tempting to take advantage of a fun trend, even if it doesn't suit you. (Being busty, I continually struggle with oversized blouses... I want to wear them, but I can't do it without looking pregnant.) I'm glad these shorts have gone to a good home, but they did still look adorable on you. And that purse- I'm still jealous!

I'm searching for a similar bag since a long time now.......but am not getting one I really like.....hope I come across one as gorgeous as yours soon!

And yes, even I sometimes have to let go of clothes coz they don't flatter my body type.....but am still proud of my curves (however & wherever they are).....& I'd rather ook good in something from last season than look unflattering in something from this one! :)

Couldn't agree more Mina, and it is something not often discussed on blogs, but is so important!
I love this outfit though, the headscarf looks perfect and I loooove that bag! You look stunning and chic.

I agree so much, it's hard loving fashion and certain trends and then realizing that the trend looks horrible on my body (trapeze dresses I'm looking at you here!). But it's also a way to narrow down your personal style I guess, and I must say Mina, you always look so well put together! Love the blouse, can't believe that it's Converse! And the shorts look fabulous on you, but definitely not worth it if you can't eat even a scoop of ice cream! I could never pass that up ;)
Lovely seeing you the other night! xx

I'm so glad there are people out there who are comfortable with their bodies and are accepting of it! We can't all be "perfect," whatever that is, and quite honestly I don't want to achieve any sort of perfection.

What you're saying is so true, but I also have to agree... it can be tempting to buy this one item anyway just because you really want to look good in it (even though you don't). I sometimes still struggle with it, when I see someone else wearing this awesome outfit, and she has a totally different body type...

But hey, another way to look at it is to think of the nice things you CAN wear and those skinny girls can't ;-) Because not everything looks better when you're super slim.

By the way - love your outfit! ;-) (and the bag, still...)

What a timely post, because I've written similar sentiments in my post today! Oh the challenge of being kind to our bodies as they change - and that means changing how we think about "sizing" and how we dress.

But you have the pics to show how fantastic you rocked the shorts!

I am glad the shorts went to a happy new home!
That mint green bag is AMAZING...might be my favorite accessory I have ever seen you with..just perfection.
Love it.
Happy weekend.

Aw you are gorgeous so don't sweat it. Perhaps you could loosen the elastic waistband? I'd rather enjoy food I like then worry about fitting into a certain dress size. Love that bag!

I think you're kind of exaggerating here with the shorts. They don't make you look fat at all.
But I know what you mean. I too have some items that are not good for my type of body.

Something about the bag, it's so you. I love that lively blue color!

I'll have to agree with everyone else. You really do look fantastic.

I am plus size (UK size 16) but I rarely have trouble finding clothes in high street stores. Bit more tricky when it comes to designer garments, though.

Brands should think about clothes to SUIT curves, not just to fit them.

You're beautiful! x
